Orientation
Day 1, Registration and Testing: On the first day of orientation, new students will register and then take an IELI placement test. The placement test will determine what class level each student will be placed in. The test includes listening, reading, writing, and grammar. On this day you will also get your student ID card and make your tuition payment.
Day 2, New Student Orientation: The second day of orientation is called New Student Orientation. It is a seminar where you will meet other new students, as well as IELI teachers and staff members. During the seminar, you will learn about important immigration procedures, health and safety information, cultural adjustment, and the academic policies of IELI. After New Student Orientation, each student will receive his or her placement test results.
Orientation week also includes activities like shopping trips, a campus tour, opening a bank account, setting up your post office box, and a social event to meet new friends. You will receive the times and dates of these trips when you arrive.
