Document Acceptance Criteria
Transcripts or other academic records must be presented according to the following criteria:
- Official transcripts, marksheets, or certificates issued by national examining boards must bear the official seal and/or original signatures of school authorities from the issuing school or examining board. Transcripts must show a current issue date and be sent directly from the school. Documents become property of UNT.
- When an original document cannot be duplicated according to the secondary school, university, or examining board policy, attested copies may be substituted. Attestations MUST be obtained either from the issuing college/university's Registrar, the Controller of Examination/Records or the Principal. Attestation includes appropriate signature and official stamp. Copies attested by notary officials, translators, head of department, lecturer, other government posts, etc. are not acceptable substitutes. UNT will accept Fulbright or Education USA attested documents.
- Official English translations must accompany official non-English transcripts provided by the issuing school or university. Translations must be from either the institution you attended or by a certified translation agency.
- Schools that utilize marksheets must include paper titles or course subjects. If the paper title or course subject is not listed on the marksheet, the required information may be included in a supplement. Also, individual yearly marksheets are required (not only a consolidated marksheet).
Evaluation of Non-USA Transcripts
International Admissions at the University of North Texas uses a variety of sources to determine equivalencies. It is important to note that the list of equivalencies on our website is not complete, but rather represents the most common credentials we receive from each country.
Our information does not always coincide with private evaluation agencies. UNT evaluates credentials exclusively for their education placement at this institution.
