University of North Texas Faculty Associate for Fulbright Programs

Overview

The Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement in International Affairs is responsible for managing UNT’s Fulbright programs for students and faculty and serving as UNT’s Fulbright Program Advisor for students and Fulbright Scholar Liaison for faculty. The number of UNT students and faculty interested in Fulbright programs has grown significantly over the last several years. In order to better support our faculty and students, International Affairs, in partnership with the Office for Faculty Success and the Toulouse Graduate School, has created a new position: Faculty Associate for Fulbright Programs.  

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Faculty Associate for Fulbright Programs is to support and work closely with the Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement to promote Fulbright opportunities to faculty and students.

  • The Faculty Associate will assist in developing and implementing an outreach plan to UNT faculty for the Fulbright Scholar Program and Fulbright Specialist Program. The Faculty Associate, in collaboration with the Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement, will work with interested faculty to help them develop competitive Fulbright applications.
  • The Faculty Associate will assist in outreach activities aimed at UNT students. These activities will include robust outreach to UNT faculty and students in all colleges. In particular, the Faculty Associate will work with UNT faculty to identify qualified UNT students and encourage them to apply. Other outreach activities may include giving presentations and class talks about the program and reviewing application materials.
  • The Faculty Associate for Fulbright will develop a work plan in collaboration with the Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement. An overview of the work plan is included below and may be revised by the Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement.

Phase 1: March 1 to May 31, 2021

  • Primary Tasks: (1) Participate in webinars and trainings to learn about the Fulbright Scholar and Specialist Programs and Fulbright U.S. Student Program; (2) Develop and implement an outreach plan for faculty; (3) Assist in outreach initiatives to faculty and students for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program; (4) Provide application guidance and support to faculty and students; and (5) Other tasks as assigned
  • Task Payment Amount: $1,500

Phase 2: June 1 to August 31, 2021

  • Primary Tasks: (1) Promote Fulbright Scholar and Specialist Programs to UNT faculty; (2) Promote the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to UNT students; (3) Provide application guidance and support to UNT faculty and students; and (4) Other tasks as assigned
  • Task Payment Amount: $1,500

Phase 3: September 1 to October 31, 2021

    • Primary Tasks: (1) Provide application guidance and support to UNT faculty; (2) Promote the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to UNT students; (3) Provide application guidance and support to UNT students; (4) Organize and participate in UNT’s Campus Committee Interviews; and (5) Other tasks as assigned
    • Task Payment Amount: $2,000

The term of the Faculty Associate is March 1, 2021 through October 31, 2021.

The position is open to full-time faculty and lecturers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to, experience, and interest in working (one on one or small groups) with students and faculty
  • Knowledgeable about Fulbright awards
  • Strong network with UNT faculty in numerous colleges and willingness to reach out and develop additional connections
  • Commitment to increasing international opportunities for UNT students and faculty
  • Preference will be given to individuals who received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award and/or a Fulbright Scholar/Specialist award
