Gordon Clark serves as the Director of the Intensive English Language Institute and Assistant Dean for International Affairs. In addition to teaching at and directing university-based programs in the United States for several years, Clark lived in Japan for 3+ years including teaching English there. His professional engagement includes service as a former president of EnglishUSA, a site reviewer for a programmatic accreditation organization, and advocacy vice president for both University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and EnglishUSA. He is thrilled to introduce students to IELI at UNT with its history of excellence of teaching English mastery, preparing students for academic study, and training worldwide faculty for teaching in English since 1977. He earned a master’s degree in TESL from Brigham Young University and has taken a number graduate classes in management at Idaho State University.

In his time outside of work, Clark enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa, attending live jazz and classical music concerts at UNT, visiting museums, volunteering, and traveling. They have been to every U.S. state except Alaska, over two dozen countries, and too many museums to count. He and Lisa have two children and four precious grandchildren!
