Gordon Clark serves as the Director of the Intensive English Language Institute and Assistant Dean for International Affairs. In addition to teaching at and directing university-based programs in the United States for several years, Clark lived in Japan for 3+ years including teaching English there. His professional engagement includes service as a former president of EnglishUSA, a site reviewer for a programmatic accreditation organization, and advocacy vice president for both University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and EnglishUSA. He currently serves as NAFSA Japan Special Interest Group (SIG) co-chair and on the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Advisory Board. He is thrilled to introduce and work with students at IELI at UNT with its history of excellence of teaching English mastery, preparing students for academic study, and training worldwide faculty for teaching in English since 1977. Clark also likes to point out IELI's success since 2014 with running a program with nine full-time UNT Instructors at partner university Kansai Gaidai, an Osaka, Japan-based worldwide leader in international educational exchange. He earned a master’s degree in TESL from Brigham Young University and has taken a number of graduate classes in management at Idaho State University.

In his time outside of work, Clark enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa, attending live music concerts at UNT, visiting museums, volunteering, walking, and traveling. They have been to 49 U.S. states, over two dozen countries, and too many museums to count. They have two children and four precious grandchildren!
