Dr. Gabriel Carranza
Dr. Gabriel Carranza serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement and as Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas. He provides oversight and international coordination for Europe, part of the Middle East and Latin America and represents UNT-International in local and international organizations based in Texas. One of his main focuses is to help the University in globalizing the research agenda. Dr. Carranza assists UNT in building partnerships with industry, agencies, organizations and governments in these regions of the world, and particularly in the North Texas region. In addition, his current responsibilities include oversight of the International Recruitment Office, Office for Sponsor Students, the newly created International Center, Office of International Partnerships and Global Engagement, and the Office of Global Engagement for Future Enrollment, Academic Cooperation and Research.
Other areas of responsibility have included International Alumni, the Welcome Center, UAEM-UNT Liaison Office, and shared oversight of the Study Abroad Office.
He has been a visiting professor of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering at the State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil, where he also recently completed a two stage Fulbright program as part of the Fulbright Specialist Program, aimed at developing the alumni of the future by incorporating values at the freshman level.
