Alex Harris
Program Director, Kansai Gaidai University

Alex Harris began his work in international education as a tutor and volunteer. That experience led him to Japan, where he got his start by teaching English as a full-time teacher. Alex also spent more than ten years as an international sales representative before completing his graduate studies in Applied Linguistics. He has been an adjunct, lecturer, and administrator as part of a university-governed intensive English program in the US specializing in English for Academic Purposes. His program also included a number of English for Specific Purposes projects. Alex has also been a visiting professor for a number of years in a special summer program for a renowned university in Niigata, Japan.

Alex describes his favorite read as a good cookbook; he loves the stories as much as the recipes. He calls himself a real foodie and an avid pie baker. His other hobbies include doing Japanese-style pottery and organic gardening.
