UNT International Affairs hosted its first-ever Passport Celebration and Travel Resource Fair on Friday, February 13, honoring the inaugural cohort of UNT Passport Grant recipients. Fifty-six students were awarded the Passport Grant, a new initiative designed to support students with financial need to obtain their first US passport.

Funded by the Study Abroad Office, the UNT Passport Grant removes a significant financial barrier to international travel by covering both the passport application and photo fees. Recipients were invited to attend the celebratory Passport Celebration & Travel Resource Fair, where they were guided through each step of the passport application and connected to a Passport Acceptance Agent to process their passport on site.

Between passport processing stations, attendees connected one-on-one with representatives from the Study Abroad Office, Office of Global Engagement, International Programs, Student Money Management Center, and UNT partner provider WorldStrides Higher Ed. These conversations introduced students to the wide range of resources UNT offers to help students plan for and pursue international experiences, whether during their time at UNT or after graduation.

The event marked the beginning of each student’s global journey and empowered them to envision themselves in study programs, graduate school, research, working, or volunteering abroad. Attendees became equipped with the tools to kickstart their path to global academic or professional experiences and develop themselves as global citizens.
