Yvonne Hsiao, Director General, and Andrea Shu-Ya Yang, Director of the Education Division, visited the Denton campus to meet with President Harrison Keller. They also met with representatives from UNT International Affairs, the College of Engineering, the College of Science, the Center for Microelectronics in Extreme Environments, the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Learning Technologies, the Department of Teacher Education and Administration, and the UNT Taiwanese Student Association.
The visit opened conversations to explore future collaborations and strengthen academic and research ties between UNT and Taiwan. UNT and TECO discussed opportunities for UNT students to study abroad and intern in Taiwan through Study in Taiwan – a program administered by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education – as well as opportunities for UNT to collaborate with Taiwanese universities and educational institutions in the areas of teacher training and learning technologies.
The TECO representatives also visited Discovery Park and received tours of the Center for Microelectronics in Extreme Environments, Materials Research Facility, and Center for Agile and Adaptive Additive Manufacturing. As Texas and Taiwan continue to forge a strong economic relationship – particularly in North Texas – these partnerships create opportunities to enhance student success, career development, faculty engagement, and research.
