RULE PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT

A new federal immigration rule has been published. The effective date of this rule is delayed due to a preliminary injunction order issued on September 14, 2026.
We will update our webpage as more information becomes available.
The rule replaces Duration of Status (D/S) with fixed‑date admissions for student and exchange visitor visa holders in the U.S., and makes changes to regulations related to educational objectives, including requirements affecting transfers, changes of major, and changes of degree level.

University of North Texas Welcomes Delegation from Tokyo Metropolitan University

The University of North Texas welcomed a delegation from Tokyo Metropolitan University on May 14, 2026, to discuss opportunities for global collaboration and explore the development of a reciprocal student exchange program.

During the visit, the University of North Texas and Tokyo Metropolitan University signed a Letter of Intent establishing a framework to explore collaborative programming.

Representing Tokyo Metropolitan University were Dr. Masayoshi Noguchi, Vice President and Director of International Center; Yoshiko Ota, Director of Planning and Coordination of Establishment Preparation Department; and Honoka Yamada, Staff of Planning and Coordination of Establishment Preparation Department.

The delegation met with UNT representatives from International Affairs, Study Abroad, and the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures for discussions focused on international partnerships, student exchange opportunities, and institutional collaboration. The visit concluded with a campus tour of Joe Greene Hall and Eagle Landing.

The meeting reflects UNT’s continued commitment to fostering global engagement and expanding international opportunities for students and faculty.
