In addition to teaching at and directing university-based programs in the United States for several years, Clark lived in Japan for 3+ years including teaching English and missionary service there. His professional engagement includes service as a former president of EnglishUSA, a site reviewer for a programmatic accreditation organization, advocacy vice president for both University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and EnglishUSA, and NAFSA’s Japan Interest Group co-chair. Clark is a frequent presenter at work-related conferences. His areas of professional interest include language testing and interpretation; marketing; business and educational partnership building; the role co-curricular activities play in enhancing language, education, and career trajectory; and advocacy. He is thrilled to introduce and work with students at UNT’s IELI with its history and reputation – both current and former - of excellence in teaching English mastery, preparing students for academic study & career readiness, and training worldwide instructors for teaching in English since 1977. He earned a master’s degree in TESL from Brigham Young University and has taken graduate classes in management at Idaho State University.

In his personal life, Gordon enjoys spending time with his wife of nearly 40 years, Lisa. They like to volunteer extensively, engage with their neighbors and church friends, serve and eat international dishes, swim, and go on road trips to spend time with extended family, especially their four precious grandchildren.
