Gordon Clark serves as the Director of the Intensive English Language Institute. In addition to teaching at and directing university-based programs in the United States for several years, Clark lived in Japan for 3+ years including teaching English and missionary service there. His professional engagement includes service as a former president of EnglishUSA, a site reviewer for a programmatic accreditation organization, and advocacy vice president for both University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and EnglishUSA. He currently serves as NAFSA’s Japan Interest Group co-chair. Clark is a frequent presenter at work-related conferences. His areas of professional interest include language testing and interpretation, marketing, business and education relationship building, the role co-curricular activities play in learning culture and language, and advocacy. He is thrilled to introduce and work with students at IELI at UNT with its history and reputation – both current and former - of excellence in teaching English mastery, preparing students for academic study, and training worldwide faculty for teaching in English since 1977. He earned a master’s degree in TESL from Brigham Young University and has taken a number of graduate classes in management at Idaho State University.

In his time outside of work, Gordon enjoys spending time with his wife of nearly 40 years, Lisa. They like to attend live music concerts at UNT, visit museums, volunteer, walk, and travel. They have been to 49 U.S. states, over two dozen countries, and too many museums to count. They have two children and four precious grandchildren!
