Most students (with the exception of Freshmen) live in apartments off-campus. Most
apartment communities in Denton begin accepting rental applications in January prior
to the start of the academic year. Most new leases begin July/August before the start
of classes.

- Plan to budget at least $900-$1500 each month for rent and utilities.
- Many Denton apartments are located on campus bus routes.

- Student Living Communities offer furnished apartments and assistance with finding
suitable roommates.
- More traditional apartment communities offer un-furnished apartments.
- UNT does not provide temporary housing or accommodations when you arrive in the US.
- Temporary accommodations may be arranged with a local hotel.

- Personal Identification is required to sign a lease.
- You may be asked to provide your passport, I-20 or DS 2019, UNT Student ID or Social
Security Number (if you have one) to secure an apartment.
- Many apartments also require a security deposit up front which includes first and
last month's rent.
- Utilities (water, electricity) often require a deposit.
