As an international student on an F or J visa at UNT, you may submit an application to be considered for a need-based Texas Public Education Grant International (TPEGI). The application is housed in the iNorthTX portal and generally opens before the start of the fall semester. 

  • You must have completed one full academic year (2 long semesters) at UNT prior to application. 
  • Awards are based on financial need, not academic merit. 
  • Grants are meant to supplement existing funding.
  • TPEG-I does not include a tuition waiver. 

The purpose of this grant is to provide limited financial assistance to eligible non-immigrant international students on F and J visas. Students must demonstrate financial need. 

  • IELI students and non-degree seeking students are not eligible 
  • Students on Optional Practical Training are not eligible

 Eligibility is as follows:

  • F or J student visa holder with current passport and required immigration documents.
  • Student must be enrolled at UNT one full academic year prior to application.
  • Student must be enrolled AT LEAST half time at time of award
  • Halftime enrollment for undergraduates is 6 credit hours.
  • Halftime enrollment for graduates is 5 credit hours.
  • Dissertation only students are considered full-time.
  • Student must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at time of application.
  • Students with past due balances at time of funding are not eligible.

Students enrolled full-time will be prioritized.

Students paying the nonresident tuition rate will be prioritized.

TPEG funding does NOT include a tuition waiver. Grants do not need to be repaid.
