An ITIN is an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

An ITIN must be requested from the IRS only when:

  • Student is not employed,
  • Student does not have a social security number, and
  • Student must report income from taxable scholarships.

Many international student athletes on F-1 visas must complete the requirements to request an ITIN.

During tax season, students must meet with a Certified Acceptance Agent  to prepare the required documents and complete form W-7

If it is outside of tax season and you need to apply for an ITIN, you may submit the ITIN request letter in iNorthTX or meet with a Certified Acceptance Agent.
